What is Cloud Computing

Why Cloud Computing is required?

Why cloud computing is requires?. The answer of this question is hidden in below examples. Let's understand the examples and find out the answer.

World without Cloud Comping

Let's understand first how IT is working without cloud computing.

Example #1

For setting up IT company, needs to by servers, hardware, software, operating systems, a dedicated team to do server configuration and monitoring, upgrading systems to latest versions, handle sudden traffic and so on. So company has to invest a lot to start the company functions. This is a big challenge for start-up company.

Example #2

You are storing your documents on your local home computer and you need those documents when you are in office or when you are travelling or when you are on vacation or you went on-site from company side. But you cannot access the data because you have to saved you documents in your local computer. In this situation only one option you have that is carry your data in portable device like pen drive or hard disk but this is not the right solution because may be you cannot you external device in your company computer or maybe you lost the portable device with sensitive data while travelling.

Example #3

Suppose you are a deployment guy and your role is to manage server in your company. In morning everything was running fine and you came to home in night, but suddenly you got to know that you company servers are down maybe due to memory issue or due to huge traffic or could be anything.

In this case you have to immediate go to office because your server are running on company hardware's.

World with Cloud Computing

Let's understand that how cloud computing will help us in above scenarios:

Cloud in example #1

In this case, instead of purchasing servers and inversing money in others, directly we can go for public cloud that provides servers, VM, storage and many more. You need not pay for everything, you have to pay whatever you will consume. Even no need of technical team required for maintenance, upgrading etc. because this job done by cloud provides. You have to just focus on your business.

Cloud in example #2

In this case you can store you document in cloud for example Microsoft OneDrive or Google Drive and access these data anytime from anywhere in the world because you have stored your data on cloud instead of your local computer.

Cloud in example #3

In this case you create servers or VM on cloud and log in to the portal from anywhere because you have hosted your application on cloud instead of your company computer. Even cloud provides automatically scaling when your traffic will be huge.

Conclusion:

Now a days data is very important and people wanted to access their data from anywhere and anytime like from home, office, vacation, while travelling. So they have to store their data on centralise location instead on local computer. That's why cloud computing is required to manage the data on centralise location instead of local computer. For example: Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive etc. It's cheaper than conventional server purchasing.

Cloud means remote location over the internet & computing word refers computer related resource & services. So by using cloud computing you can manage all your servers, vm, load balancers, database and other resources on cloud. Cloud is managed & service provides by cloud providers like:

  • Amazon AWS
  • Microsoft Azure
  • Google Cloud Platform
